"Home" is a shelter from storms
Who: Hiro, Sam, eventually Dirge, ETA: Breakdown
What: Since Hiro has to have somewhere to stay, Sam's helping him get situated.
When: Following this thread
Where: The Hub.
Warnings: Dirge, and predictably, profanity.
From the hall, there was little to distinguish Sam’s apartment. Its door was one among many in the human-scale section of the Hub’s habitation wing, and could’ve easily been exchanged for any of the others found on the third floor. Still, it was Sam’s, and even outside that showed. It was in her ‘here we are’ attitude, and the way she set a shoulder against the doorframe in pausing. Some introduction seemed appropriate, so…
She shrugged, smiling.
“It’s not my house, but all the same? ‘Enter freely, go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring.’”
That said, she opened the door.
The room it opened onto wasn’t unusual in its design (a kitchenette with a partial wall, the principle living space, one wide window with a decent view, closet, corridor) but it was unusual in its décor---burnished copper covered the floor, the walls, the ceiling, in solid sheets. It wasn’t entirely unbroken, as darkly-varnished branches had been laid across the walls like latticework, and a couple of shaggy rag rugs covered a portion of the floor. A third (green, rust-red, and ochre, like the others) had been thrown over the couch, which was wicker (matching most of the furniture) and more of a stubby settee.
“It was weird enough I fell in love when I found it.”

Hiro, no. Sam, do something about him.

"Osti d'épais de marde et simonaque et saint-siboire...!" She'd believed herself to be bad for beakin' off---once, and now, no more. "We are not. That is twice today you've set about misrepresenting me, man. Not cool."
no subject
He turned back to the drone. "We're not stealing, Dirge. The entire contents of the warehouse doesn't belong to you."
no subject
"My only agreement was to allow friends of mine to take from here. And I'm afraid that none of you three fit the bill."
Is that....the sound of jet engines?
"So yes.... I think I do want to fight about it."
And suddenly the huge glass window above them shatters, hit by the full force of Dirge's jet mode, lasers firing at the ground below, nosecone pointed directly at Breakdown.

It's both maddening and adorable that Hiro's first reaction is to grab Sam and hightail it out of there, the way he would with a certain marshmallowy robot from his homeworld. At least he's thinking about people other than himself? Even if this entire situation is sort of his fault?

"The less we're seen, the safer we'll be, barring what shit they knock into or over. Cause of that, we've got to get clear. C'mon."
no subject
"Since that's the way you wanna play it..."

Meanwhile....the little drone that just announced their doom? It's still following you Sam and Hiro. Meaning Dirge knows exactly where you are.]

But fortunately for both of them, he notices the little drone trailing along, grabbing for the nearest blunt object and flinging it at the tiny thing. The object may or may not be a lamp.

"Calisse, calvaire, crisse, crisse." The drones were damnably hard to damage; she knew that from Dirge's experimentation, and from how Hiro's drone had held up to being used for bashing a boar. There wouldn't be any breaking Dirge's.
That was alright.
They didn't need to break it. Blinding it would be enough. The drones were all alike, the camera lens on each, apparent. Sam saw it, snorted, and felt for the familiar pull-push-pivot---
(fix you)
---and the glass blinked black.
Better.
She moved to round onto another aisle, still sure of her hold on Hiro.
"One---no, two. Two things."

He wrenches his body to the side, taking the blow on the shoulder, leaving his huge shoulder pauldron crumpled and impinging on his arm beneath. He can't raise it above his head anymore, but its better than getting his face smashed in. Dirge howls and shoves his leg between them, pressing his thruster to Breakdown's thigh.
[A lamp comes sailing at the little drone, colliding with its front and sending it for a little loop. It doesn't seem to be any worse for wear though and it continues to follow them doggedly. That is until its sensors suddenly go dark. It spins around in a confused circle, trying to dislodge whatever is blocking its visuals, but to no avail.]
Dirge grinds his teeth when the feed showing him where the two humans are suddenly cuts out. Obviously they'd managed to disable it in some matter. Not good. They could be getting away with a ton of his things while he struggled with this grounder brute.
"Sorry, gotta jet," the clone hisses, igniting his thruster heel. If Breakdown doesn't let go his upper leg is going to get VERY hot.

That was so cool!

"About those two things---" She continued to pull Hiro along, limp prominent in her hurry. "You okay? You'd better be okay. And, for fff---no, now it would be warranted. For fuck's sake, don't antagonize giant robots, especially when they are man-eating war machines you've been warned about. Child."
They cut through a space on a shelf, and she added, almost exasperated, "That's my job."

He is, however, pounding off after Dirge, and will even transform to move on wheels, since he's at least a little fast that way.
no subject
Fast enough to catch up with some humans though, he wagers. He lands in an isle where they were before, actually getting down on his hands and knees like some deranged beast to pursue them. Spotting a flash of something, he slams his claw down in its direction- knowing that at any moment Breakdown might catch up with him.

"Right, fine, okay, lecture us after we keep from dying, okay?"

“Diiiiiirge!” It comes out a roar as he transforms again and runs the last few steps to reach the Seeker.
