The ‘official story’ was simple, if outlandish: Sam had happened across a VHS tape of Tremors (true) while lost (false) in the dense mire of mess which was Hiro’s room. Though the tape had actually been uncovered in the Warehouse, she had no intention of saying so; she didn’t want to wonder if the truth would reach Dirge, or want to deal with the seeker if he heard and, hearing, took it into his head to reclaim the cassette. What she did want was to make good on what she’d said to Jadewing.

’Sometime, we’ll find for you a few decent horror flicks.’

Tremors had turned out to be the first of that few. With luck, and a little---or a lot---of looking, there would be others, and so the whole theatre project had been buttressed by the hope of having more movies. The screen was situated at one side of the clearing Irja had kindly created, suspended between the trunks of two massive trees and braced by branches across its back. (The controls were there, as well, and at two elevations; the human-scale console sheltered in what looked, to Sam, like an ice shack.) A viewing deck had been built opposite the screen, encircling one wide walnut tree at a height which would have any occupants up enough to talk to standing Cybertronians comfortably, without craning. The deck had been outfitted with a ladder, a small collection of mismatched chairs, and (importantly!) a small free-standing fire pit. Two ridges crossed the clearing so that people could park angled up to better see the screen, but the clearing itself was otherwise almost ordinary---and only ‘almost’ on account of its creation.

All things considered, the set-up was pretty sweet.

Looking around, he'd eventually look down to see Sam approaching, her limp a little more apparent since she was walking at speed. One spotted, she waved. "Breakdown! Glad to see you're here; I won't have to bawl you out. I woulda. You know how bad I am for beakin' off, even to bigger people."

On the one hand: cookies (HIDDEN cookies, even!) supplied by a very sneaky roommate who will likely not let him have more than four. On the other: vegetables, supplied by a potential new friend who Hiro almost killed with embarrassment.

He knows his duty and, despite recoiling at the thought of (ugh) lettuce, turns towards Akito first. "What kind?"

"I have seen documentaries on cryptozoology, science, and nature! But those aren't the same as movie-movies!"

Someone is also bouncing on the balls of her feet, brimming with gleeful energy. "I wonder if the others I've met will be here? Hopefully Hiro will be! If I can't find him or Sam, is it okay if I sit with you?"

"That's what I shoulda done, but I was counting myself lucky that the cookies lasted this long. Thought Hiro might sniff'em out sooner rather than later if I trusted too much to luck." Sam grinned---at the ripple of resignation running through her housemate's aura, as much as anything---and turned her attention to Akito. "Cookies've got walnuts, honey, and eggs in them, but if you're okay with those things you're welcome to two."

"Mostly strawberries! But blueberries and some apples and peaches, too. For vegetables I brought carrots!" Believe it or not, friend, but carrots are loaded with natural sugars!

"...I've never had any of those things before, but I've heard very good things about honey!"

"-- strawberries are good." Strawberries are often parts of cake. Acceptable bounty, Akito, have Hiro sneaking over to peek into your bag~

And then he'll pause to make a face at Sam. "Two apiece? Are they big cookies, at least?"

“Really? Would you like the two, then?” Now aware that the cookies were far from Akito’s standard fare, Sam pulled the six---wrapped neatly in wax paper, so as to be safely smuggled---from her pocket, and opened the little package so that the girl could see what she was in for, and Hiro could see for himself the cookies’ size. “Chocolate chip oatmeal with honey and walnuts; a little different, but really good. Assuming they’re not too too sweet for you, and also assuming you’re not vegan or anything.”

It seemed like a plausible possibility; for all she knew, Akito (with her interest in documentaries, and her going without electricity, and her views on views of the body) had come from some sort of commune.

"Strawberries are the best," Akito agrees very seriously. She doesn't have anything in her bag to hide, and so apart from the snacks and her Air Trecks, the only things noticeable are a worn out photograph and a small anthology of Grimms fairy tales.

Look at all of her belongings, Hiro! She is very proud of them!

"I'm not a vegan - I need animal proteins in my diet... So I would like to try one, if that's okay? If I don't like it Hiro can have the rest of mine."

Hiro is the nosiest nosy to ever nose, so he'll peek at all Akito's things, then nod seriously. Be prepared for him to steal some of the bigger strawberries later on (and possibly use them to scare the robots into believing he's been turned into a flesh-eating zombie).

"Animal proteins are the best!" This is said as Hiro reaches to grab his two designated cookies and manage to somehow eat them both at the exact same time.

He laughs snugging Knock Out to his side. "Well, guess it's good you won't have to worry about it here."

C'mon, partner, let's go sit over there. He's just gonna walk along with his arm around Knock Out until they reach a good sitting area, and will take a seat.

Breakdown stopped, hands on his hips as he peered down at Sam, a smirk on his face. "Yeah, you've got a bad habit on that front."

"Looks like you've done a good job here." He looks around at the setup with an appreciative eye for detail.

Humans ew.

He's half tempted to just flop on Breakdown and use him as a seat, buuut he'll be nice and just take a seat next to him.

"It's nice to not have to do this in vehicle mode, for once."

"Yeah, those definitely don't count."

He gave the kid a lopsided grin. "Yeah. You can sit with me. You should be able to find Sam and Hiro, though, I saw Sam not too long ago, and I'm sure Hiro is around here too."

Maybe all three little twerps kids can come sit on his shoulders or something. He'd not mind that.

"Okay! Cool!" At Breakdown's assurance that Hiro is likely here too, Akito steps on her tip-toes and glances around, as though the extra inch or so will make her come any closer to tall enough to see over anything. "Have you seen Hiro yet?"

She hasn't yet picked up on the ability to not be so glaringly, embarrassingly, obviously eager. And the fact that she gets as excited over the chance to see a movie for the first time as she does at just the though of spending time with Hiro should probably tell her something about her feelings.

But, of course, it doesn't.

Awww, is Akito in love? How cute. He chuckles and offers his hand. "Need a higher vantage point?" He was glad to offer it. "Not yet, but I'm sure you'll find him."

No, he was just late. He'd deny forever that he did that on purpose. On the one hand, he'd promised he would be here, and he kept his promises. On the other, he hoped he could just sort of slip in to the edge of things, unnoticed, so he could slip back out again if this proved, as he was sure it would, to be Not. His. Thing.

"It's not a bad habit, it's part of my charm! And besides, I already know I can rag away on you... if I resign myself to you teasing me in turn." She spread her arms, shrugging, and came close enough to set a foot on the big bot's toe. "I think I can take it, though right right now I'll happily take the praise---and my portion of the credit. The others put in a lot of work, but I think we're all very happy with what's come out of it."

"Strawberries are very good. Especially here---I've never had such consistently high-quality produce. It's awesome." Smiling, Sam held the cookies out to Akito and ignored Hiro's snatch-and-scarf. (She was used to that sort of thing now---inured to it, in all honesty.) "More than okay, kiddo. Just wanted to check about the vegan thing since we clearly have some differing expectations here and there, and although all excellent-sounding? Your snacking supplies made me wonder if you weren't one. 'Sall good, though."

Thundercracker was late, but not late enough to miss the start of the show---or the low-key confusion preceding it, as the other attendees found seats and friends and better spots to sit. He wasn't late (or unobtrusive) enough to avoid notice, either---Sam spotted him, started for him, and waved her hello.

A crush for now, more like. But you never know! Especially not with teenage emotions.

"No, thank you. I'm sure that if he's nearby we will hear him soon."

Akito has never seen someone manage to eat food so fast before in all her life, and so she stares wide-eyed and impressed until Sam speaks again.

"Ah- I never had them before coming here... But it's hard to imagine they could taste any better!" She very delicately grabs one of the cookies for now, making sure to hold it with great care so it doesn't crumble or break. She plans on saving it for the movie. "I don't know how to cook, so if it isn't raw then it isn't for me! But raw food has a lot of flavour, so I like it very much."

Hiro's already reaching out to try and sneak himself a strawberry, but this stops him in his tracks, getting a frown of concern.

"You can't cook? ...how do you eat meat, then?"

Jadewing chuckled. "Like I said, anythings better than Rumble and Frenzy's tastes," he said. "The ones they like usually feature lots of young humans being killed in various unrealistic ways, usually because they did something completely against common sense. Along with gratuitous scenes of them mating, for some reason. I never understood the appeal."

Hey for Decepticons, those did qualify as quirks. You really don't want to know what Deceptions consider truly insane, Sam. "Most Decepticons fall into the category of 'individuals to watch out for' by definition," Jadewing commented. "You've just been lucky enough to meet some of the more stable ones."

"Anyway, no, I didn't see Dirge on the way here," he said. "But I fully support learning new swear words to use on him. Let's see, there's 'slag' and 'frag', and their insult variants 'slagger' and 'fragger'. The latter is the stronger in both cases. 'Aft'is a good basic one and it means exactly what you probably think it means. For jets, you can also substitute 'exhaust port' in phrases like 'blow it out your exhaust port'; same goes for 'tailpipe' if you're referring to a grounder."

"A few flier-specific ones are 'ground-crawler', 'dirt-crawler', and 'dirt-lover'," he said. "Basically anything to do with dirt or the ground in relation to a flier is probably a good bet. There are two other really nasty ones in that vein, but they don't translate very neatly, and I don't think you could pronounce the Cybertronian. Roughly, they mean 'one who lets dirt interface with them' and 'one whose fuel lines are full of dirt'."

"Those last two are more often used by Seekers against non-Seekers, though," he said. "We've always had a bit of superiority complex going on, even before the war, and sometimes it shows more than others."

"That's good to hear. The best projects are the ones completed with friends. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie you found."

He'll shift and sit, and offer his hand to Sam so he can bring her up to optic level.
