The ‘official story’ was simple, if outlandish: Sam had happened across a VHS tape of Tremors (true) while lost (false) in the dense mire of mess which was Hiro’s room. Though the tape had actually been uncovered in the Warehouse, she had no intention of saying so; she didn’t want to wonder if the truth would reach Dirge, or want to deal with the seeker if he heard and, hearing, took it into his head to reclaim the cassette. What she did want was to make good on what she’d said to Jadewing.

’Sometime, we’ll find for you a few decent horror flicks.’

Tremors had turned out to be the first of that few. With luck, and a little---or a lot---of looking, there would be others, and so the whole theatre project had been buttressed by the hope of having more movies. The screen was situated at one side of the clearing Irja had kindly created, suspended between the trunks of two massive trees and braced by branches across its back. (The controls were there, as well, and at two elevations; the human-scale console sheltered in what looked, to Sam, like an ice shack.) A viewing deck had been built opposite the screen, encircling one wide walnut tree at a height which would have any occupants up enough to talk to standing Cybertronians comfortably, without craning. The deck had been outfitted with a ladder, a small collection of mismatched chairs, and (importantly!) a small free-standing fire pit. Two ridges crossed the clearing so that people could park angled up to better see the screen, but the clearing itself was otherwise almost ordinary---and only ‘almost’ on account of its creation.

All things considered, the set-up was pretty sweet.

He can tell the interest is there at least. He chuckles and easily withdraws his hand. "I'm sure you'll see him. He'd not miss this."

"I'm sure he'll be happy to see you made it too."

It's okay, you can totally flop on his lap, you know he'd not care. Oh, well, beside him works too. He slips an arm around Knock Out. "Yeah, it is. It's nice to be able to sit and relax, to be invited. Kind of seems surreal, eh?"

He smirks. "Yeah, yeah. Well, in any case, the work shows. Looks good, now to find out if everything will work."

He grimaces. "Yeah, I've seen a couple of those. Knock out really doesn't like those ones...can't say I do either. This one still has people dyin', but it's not like those ones."

Breakdown's final comment surprises her. "You think so? I am surprised people seem to like me being around! I'm kind of annoying, I think."

She isn't upset by this in the least - says it simply, as though it's a fact. And to her it is. Akito believers herself to be annoying, always asking too many questions. Being baffled by simple, common things. Not understanding societal expectations. Being over eager about... pretty much everything.

"As unusual as all of this is, I'd still say we've definitely moved up in the world, Breakdown."

And he will absolutely snuggle into the big blue mech, engine purring contently. Yeah, this was all a vast improvement over everything they'd been through before.

"Where were you before you were here? If you don't mind me asking." Even as she spoke, Sam bobbed the cookies at Akito to approximate go on, take another! "And if you don't mind... I'd also like to know how you have your meat."

Her curiousity was frank, but uncritical---just curiousity. As acknowledged, everybody's expectations were all over the board, and that something so basic as food should illustrate that (frankly) figured.

"...The arctic?" She doesn't want to lie, but she also doesn't want to tell the truth. So half-truths it is! "I mean, I lived in the arctic for, um, my whole life. And resources were limited. Someone else took care of food so it would be rationed properly..."

To answer the question about meat, however... "When I have meat here I just eat it raw. Like, sushi? I like raw fish."

Akito will hesitantly take another cookie, tucking it away very carefully with her fruits with a small 'thank you'.

"The arctic? Was it cold?" Well, duh, Hiro. Then again, he's wondering if global warming is a thing there too -- maybe it's a tropical version of the arctic? With like...penguin beaches.

The explanation about the meat gets a thoughtful nod. "Sushi's good. I dunno how good the fish here is -- isn't there pollution and stuff? And what d'you do about like, not-fish meat?"

"Proof that he's got taste in more than just paintjobs," Jadewing said, giving an amused smirk. "But yeah, wouldn't be able to consider it much of a horror movie if no one died."

"I'm interested to see what's up with those Dweller-looking things, though," he said. "Sam said they're not much like the actual Dweller aside from appearances, so I'm not sure what to expect."

"Or, for. Working at something to surprise a friend can, I think, be as much fun---even if, or especially if, it's a total secret while a work in progress." The adept stepped onto the offered hand without hesitation, settling to sit cross-legged even as Wing's admission got her grinning. "I hope you like it. It's the sort of movie that I think has a little something for everyone in the audience... but I don't even know what genres you like best."

He caught a frown (busted!) and schooled his features into a neutral expression, nodding in return. “Sam.” He cast a glance around. “Quite the set-up you have here.”

He laughs. “You? Annoying? Nah, kid, I’ve known annoying people, and you ain’t one of them.” He doesn’t mind the chatter and questions, and Akito being baffled by common things isn’t something Breakdown minds.

And I believe children will be in jumping in to sit on Breakdown soon.

That puts a grin on Breakdown’s face, and he looks, and feels, more relaxed than he has in...so long. In fact...Knock Out has probably never seen his partner so...content.

Breakdown claps his shoulder with a knowing smirk. “Guess you’ll find out soon, won’t you?” He’ll kind of motion for Jade to head over to take a seat. “Hope you enjoy the experience.”

Akito even finds herself annoying at times, so it really is a surprise to her.

“For is always a good motivator too.” He chuckles. “I’m sure it’ll be fun. Honestly, I’ve not seen a movie in so long I can’t really say what my favorite genre would be.”

Oh, he notices that. It's really nice to see. So Knock Out decides to take advantage of it and move to Breakdown's lap. Wow this sure is nice it would be a shame if something came along and ruined the moment. (do it)

While there was no malicious intent---and certainly no moment-ruining meant---an interruption was inevitable; this time, it took the form of one adept with two teenagers in tow. Having started across the clearing before Knock Out reseated himself, Sam turned back from very seriously asking Hiro how much popcorn he had packed to see the two situated and shrug to herself. She'd confirmed Knock Out didn't mind remarks made mid-movie (not at all, since half would come from him) and had all but warned Breakdown she'd be by to hassle him, so neither should've been surprised to hear her "Hey guys," before the show started.

"Mind if we sit with you?"

“Heh, maybe. Why? You want to be annoying?” Kinda make it sound like you do, kiddo.

Breakdown’s smile grows a little as Knock Out shifts into his lap, and he wraps his arms possessively around his partner. And then there’s a voice. He lifts his head away from where he’s got it resting and looks down to see Sam and the others. “Hey. Yeah, that’s fine.

Akito offers a small wave from where she stands, eying the two robots' sort of cuddling. She tilts her head, curious, but doesn't comment. Instead Akito merely gives a small, amused smile and addresses Breakdown.

"Hello again!"

"Ah? No! It's just... I think it's different, for people to not find all my questions so annoying? And answering them, too! Most of the time."

He shrugs. "You're someplace new, of course you're gonna have questions." And he doesn't mind answering.

mmmmm hello company whats up. Knock Out's juuust gonna slide off Breakdown's lap and settle next to him again yeeeep. He's just going to give Sam a little shrug and act like he hadn't just been being all overly affectionate all over Breakdown a moment ago.
