Who: Hiro, Sam, and anybody else who wants to watch Tremors
What: Watching Tremors and possibly discussing swear words prior to the show
Where: The new outdoor theatre in the Northwest
When: Backdated to Thursday night, dusk.
Warnings: Language? Probably language.

The ‘official story’ was simple, if outlandish: Sam had happened across a VHS tape of Tremors (true) while lost (false) in the dense mire of mess which was Hiro’s room. Though the tape had actually been uncovered in the Warehouse, she had no intention of saying so; she didn’t want to wonder if the truth would reach Dirge, or want to deal with the seeker if he heard and, hearing, took it into his head to reclaim the cassette. What she did want was to make good on what she’d said to Jadewing.

’Sometime, we’ll find for you a few decent horror flicks.’

Tremors had turned out to be the first of that few. With luck, and a little---or a lot---of looking, there would be others, and so the whole theatre project had been buttressed by the hope of having more movies. The screen was situated at one side of the clearing Irja had kindly created, suspended between the trunks of two massive trees and braced by branches across its back. (The controls were there, as well, and at two elevations; the human-scale console sheltered in what looked, to Sam, like an ice shack.) A viewing deck had been built opposite the screen, encircling one wide walnut tree at a height which would have any occupants up enough to talk to standing Cybertronians comfortably, without craning. The deck had been outfitted with a ladder, a small collection of mismatched chairs, and (importantly!) a small free-standing fire pit. Two ridges crossed the clearing so that people could park angled up to better see the screen, but the clearing itself was otherwise almost ordinary---and only ‘almost’ on account of its creation.

All things considered, the set-up was pretty sweet.

"Hmn. It'd have to be subtitled." Primus, why is he even having this conversation?

Why is he hoping he /does/ find any of a few vids he remembers so he can see hers and others' reactions.

"So what now?"

"Probably some kind of cheap, latex rubber effects or something." Something in the half-grin ghosting his face said he didn't really believe that, though he wasn't exactly stilling his fans in anticipation. Still...

"Suppose I should find a place to settle, hm?"

Akito keeps silent after giving her greeting, having nothing to interject until Breakdown's order-suggestion.

"May I sit on one of your shoulders, Mr. Breakdown?"

Hiro is actually pretty good at the whole sharing thing, even when it comes to his candy, but there's a downside to that -- he's a little shit, and will now dissolve into cackling, leaning against Sam for support because omg.

"That is the best reaction ever!"

Don't mind Knock Out, he's just going to lean over and poke Hiro in the chest. Hiro you are a little smartass.

"Would anyone be too upset if I decided to lock this one in my trunk until the movie's over?"

Akito, not entirely used to sarcasm or jokes, honestly believes this is something that will happen if nobody speaks up and so she does. Very quickly.

"I would!" There's an odd, musical lilt hidden under her voice that the average person would overlook. Akito herself doesn't seem to notice it - and why should she? It's just part of her nature. Though legends would say it's a nature used only to lure others to their deaths, not keep them from being locked inside of trunks. "I- I would be upset! Please don't lock him in your trunk, Mr. Breakdown's partner?"

Sam laughs herself---though it's nowhere near a cackle---and, almost automatically, settles a hand on Hiro's shoulder as if the little shit might slide to a side and fall. It isn't implausible; his laughter has him shaking hard enough.

"Best reaction, but what's the verdict?"

"Oh, damn." Sam did not sound anything but unbothered, indicating Akito, herself, and Hiro with one hand as she continued to talk. "Here I thought 'shoulder space, shoulder space, trunk, and it's settled!' So much for those seating arrangements."

Somehow straight-faced, she turned to Breakdown. "But more seriously, I'm going to go ahead and assume I can sit on you also, since you kind of set the bar for personal space when we met."

It's... Embarrassing. And if her face wasn't so busy dealing with the sour she might be blushing. Alas!

"It's... I-It's, um. Really sour. The most sour thing I've ever had!"

"I won't be complaining. I don't think anybody would be, except maybe whoever ends up doing the subtitles." That there would be someone willing, or willing enough, Sam was sure---after getting a ground together to construct the theatre, persuading one person to provide a translation was decidedly doable. Getting the text on-screen would be even easier, with her housemate handy.

"What now? Whatever, really. Just bumming around before the show starts, giving anyone coming in kinda late" Like yourself? "a few more minutes' grace to get here. No previews to provide that, so y'know."

It was enough that he was there to hear her out---enough, as she couldn't expect anything more... beyond bad jokes, though those she expected from Breakdown. (Wing wouldn't stoop to cracking wise the same way, no matter how funny some of the burns could be.)

"Seems like you'd be all for the little group of adventurers learning about each other, and theirselves, as they struggle to complete some quest. Plus, majestic scenery."

"Hah!", Jadewing scoffed good naturedly. "I've got news for you, human, Seekers are hardly as big as it gets. One word for you: citybots." Let Sam think on the implications of that one for a minute.

Jadewing listened carefully, committing the new curses to memory. "Dare I ask what that last one means?", he said.

"Nah, human movie makers have higher standards than that," he said. "They only use expensive latex rubber effects." Jadewing's not really making much effort to hide the amused half-smirk on his own face either.

"Yeah, probly should," he said, geturing for Thundercracker to follow him. "C'mon, I'll show you where I'm sitting."

As they headed over Jadeing said "You know, this talk of movies reminds me of that time that Dirge crashed in the middle of a human movie studio with one of Wheeljack's gadgets he stole from Cybertron. Remember that?"

...Hiro's definitely not helping though, is he, by dissolving into hysteria and leaning against Sam. Seriously, ignore him, he's a little jerk.

"Okay, though? Or is 'the most sour' too sour? I have some water if you need." Although still amused, Sam sounded genuinely interested in the answer. "And some advice. Don't trust Hiro if he gives you any citrus fruit other than an orange... not that I'd expect him to have or even find fruit to begin with."

"Previews?" What are those? "Hm . . . suppose I should settle, then." He reluctantly started for the main sitting area, careful not to bump Sam as he stepped by her.

The joke gets a lopsided half-grin from the senior Seeker and a nod at the offer as he shifts to follow his wingmate. The last makes him stop in his tracks for a moment, a look between horror and highly amused on his face. "Primus, how could I forget? That whole mess was a fiasco, from Dirge and his wingmates' failures to those Autobots in the ridiculous 'alien' costumes to the whole thing being over nothing but one of the engineer's duds." Thundercracker shakes his head, a wider grin on his face. "Wonder if the engineer remembers too."

Breakdown laughs, stubbornly keeping an affectionate arm around his partner. "Trunk can be arranged, kiddo."

But wait, he's got a kid asking to sit on his shoulder, and another assuming a seat! He just stares at them a moment. "Hey, I didn't know the rules of friendly human interactions when we met, can that really count for setting the bar on personal space?" That said though... "But I don't see why not. Just don't blame me if you fall off." He'll even offer a hand to move the kids to their desired perch.

Sam's (rather reasonable) response came almost immediately: "Goddamn." She took a step back to throw her hands up more dramatically than she might've, shaking her head as she lowered and then crossed her arms.

"I mean this in the friendliest way, but you guys---Cybertronians generally---are kind of ridiculous. With your lifespans and subspace and sheer friggin' scale. Still like you lots, and most of the other bots I've met, but I also still stand by 'goddamn' and also 'what is this even.'" Snorting a little laugh, the adept moved on to actually answering, though she struggled to keep from laughing again. "You do, because it's so over-the-top it's what made me decide I really should make an effort looking into learning sacres. You're familiar with the versatility of the word 'fuck' in English? 'Mon tabarnak j'vais te decalisser la yeule calice' is the Quebecois equivalent of 'motherfucker I'm gonna fuck you up as fuck.'"

He laughs softly. "Yes, that does sound like something I would enjoy. Perhaps we'll have to find out for certain sometime, assuming you can find a fitting story for us to watch."

Hiro almost falls over at the poking, then makes a face up at Knock Out. "I'm not goin' anywhere near any trunks!"

And to underscore this, he'll grab onto Akito's hand and tug her over to sit on Breakdown's hand.

Well, Akito hadn't been expecting the hand holding and so is understandably flushed pink right up to her hairline. And obediently following along behind her friend, of course.

Jadewing chuckled. "You're not the only one who thinks citybots are a bit ridiculous," he says. "Though to be fair, they're not whole cities. Really they're more small- by Cybertronian standards- mobile bases that just happen to be sparked and sentient. But 'small mobile base bots' doesn't really have the same ring to it. Cybertronians my size can and do live in them though, when they're in base form. Which is... sort of creepy if you think about it too hard, so we try not to."

"As for the rest of us being ridiculous," he shrugged, "that's a matter of perspective. There are still Cybertronians who'll argue that considering any organic truly sentient is ridiculous. Some take it further than that, even and claim that Cybertronians are the only beings in the universe who can be considered truly sentient, because we're the only ones that have sparks." Which Sam could probably guess, had been an excuse for much prejudice and harm perpetrated by Cybertronians over the millenia.

The explanation of the long sacre got another chuckle out of Jadewing. "I'll have to remember that one," he said. "'Frag' is similarly versatile among Cybertronians, and its base meaning is about the same."

"That one had us snickering behind the Coneheads' backs for weeks, yeah," Jadewing says, obviously doing his level best not to snicker right here and now, and only partially succeeding. "We'll have to ask Wheeljack about it later." That's one incident that they all can be amused about.

"I wonder if that film still exists somewhere?", Jadewing wonders. "You know, just so the whole thing is recorded for posterity."
