Once she's let him go, Lea hastily removes his black coat, wrapping it around Jendayi's much smaller body. He even flips the hood up to shield her head and face. The coat is heavy, made of some kind of leather-like material with metal accents, but that just makes it feel more solid. And like anything Lea wears for any period of time, it's warm.
"There," he says. "Now you're as safe as I am." He pauses. "Jen, I need to go see if I can find help. Maybe someone who knows how to make these things quit following us anyway. I'm gonna need you to stay here til I get back, unless it gets too dangerous, in which case you run, and I'll find you later. Can I count on you to do that for me?"
